Our cows, calves, and some bulls are born and raised on our farm. We do occasionally purchase a bull to avoid inbreeding. Note: All photographs are taken by either Robert or Jewell Doering and are the property of Sarver Heritage Farm. Also, unlike many websites and farms, we do not use photos from online resources like Shutterstock to represent our products.
Robert Doering
Robert is the only grandson of Lacy and Viola Sarver. Having fond memories of the farm from his youth, he purchased the farm to keep it the family. He studied fine art, ancient philosophy and history at Hope College. Besides what he learned from his grandparents about beef farming, Robert brings a lifetime of carpentry, marketing and graphic design, and nursery work experience to the farm. He has a love for details that is expressed in hobbies like model ship building.
Robert & Jewell Doering
Basically, they are two hermits, fiercely independent individuals who love their land and critters, willing to sacrifice personal luxuries for benefit of their charges. Their combined skill sets produce what is arguably some of the best grass fed beef in the region. This is what happens when you turn an artist/philosopher and a biologist/geek animal lover loose on a cattle farm. Despite their introvert nature, they are more than willing to talk with folks that visit the farm, often giving impromptu walking tours of the farm.
Jewell Doering
Jewell has a natural love of biology and chemistry, which she studied in college. She is an autodidact, able to teach herself complex subjects. Her knowledge is only surpassed by her love of animals. Since agreeing to Robert's request for marriage in 2007, she has taught herself the art making soaps based on tallow from our cattle, the intricacies of maintaining a dairy cow and creating dairy products from butter to cheese, raising poultry, etc,
